Back on the Pony

It's an exciting time for Subaru Motor Sports USA and its large community of fans as the return of The Goodwood Festival of Speed projects success for this historically winning team of drivers. The festival comes back to the south of England over a long weekend starting Thursday, July 10th and ending Sunday July 13th. Many remember the historic debut showing in 2024 when Scott Speed and his Subaru WRX know as "Project Midnight" recorded the fastest time under the internal combustion engine (ICE) category giving stiff competition to those competing electric vehicles who pridefully proclaimed capabilities of triple the power output and amazing speed. Per the most recent Subaru Motorsports USA press release, Speed commented on both the car and the event with promise and inspiration. “Project Midnight is an amazing car,” Speed was quoted to say,“and Goodwood is a special event. I can’t wait to run it up that hill again!”, he exclaimed.

Thrills for Everyone

This event promises to be a thrilling ride of competitive spirit and fan awe as a number of Subaru's premiere drivers take to the stage to shoe their might and experience. Along aside his Subaru team and crew, Travis Pastrana, a memorable icon within extreme sports circles will return to Goodwood’s legendary rally course piloting the impressive performing WRX ARA25 which has become a game changing leader of it's class. The American Rally Association (ARA) Open 4WD class car promises to deliver Pastrana to thrilling victory during this event. His energetic spirit and determined persona comes through clearly as he prepares for the jam packed schedule of events. As quoted in the press release, Pastrana exclaimed, "I’m stoked to be in the O4WD car again! It’ll take a second to get used to it, but I always have fun driving for that crowd.", he said. "We’re gonna have a great time!”

Times to Remember

With an enthusiast community spread out globally carrying a dedication and inspired creative energy, Subaru hopes that this event will be as impactful to its team as many others have been throughout history of motorsports. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is not only a motorsports event but also a celebration since it has been 30 years since Colin McRae celebrated his incredible title-winning season and left such an inspirational and encouraging mark in history which spawned the careers and influence over many younger drivers and enthusiasts. It is easy to remember and cherish how the Subaru brand has gained momentum, performance prowess, and maintained its heavyweight status after such staggering performances over these years. Subaru's announcement reminds us of this value by confirming, "With several of McRae’s own cars running alongside the WRX ARA25, the moment is both a tribute and a reminder: the spirit that defined an era continues today—loud, fast, and still wearing the same iconic colors."

Shaking Historic Ground at The Goodwood Festival of Speed

This year's event has created a lot of energy throughout the motorsports industry since the records set in 2024 are still a major subject of pride and discussion throughout the vast Subaru community. There is excitement and confident expectations that the Project Midnight car will return to stuff more victories under its belt. With another year of technology and innovation past us, the thrilled crowds of onlookers will see a collection of classic platforms, custom rarities, hyper cars, experimental builds, along with full-electric innovators to bring this event to a new level of competition and intrigue. The 2025 festival and array of events within will no doubt create a loud roar of excitement while the smoke and gravel flies and after when all the dust has settled and the day dreaming begins. Promising a diverse set of competitors not like any year previous, The Goodwood Festival of Speed should be an event that we will be talking about for years to come.
