Subimods team and community

Who we are

Built for Subaru enthusiasts

Subimods isn’t guided by industry trends or empty stats. We’re an organization that engages customers with genuine interest — backing the passion, creativity, and hunger for performance that define Subaru enthusiasts.

That belief shows up every day we open our doors: supporting a community that values individuality as much as it values horsepower.

Our story

01 08

1990s

Family roots

Subimods was born out of a family of true enthusiasts — a powerful spirit passed from a gearhead grandfather to an enthusiast father, to the entrepreneurial son. CEO Nick Nazzaro grew up watching his father, Dan Nazzaro, launch an automotive career in the late 1990s in Wethersfield, CT.

Dan’s business focused on auto electronics and hi-tech components of the era: early car phones, high-end audio, and specialized installs like remote starters that demanded real expertise by make and model.

Performance shift

A sharper focus on automotive performance took hold in the early 2000s — inspired by Dan’s own father and the history of racing at Stafford Speedway, which has hosted car racing since the end of World War II.

That passion redirected the business toward supporting performance upgrades for JDM cars, laying the foundation for everything that followed.

2002

The WRX decision

By 2002, the redirection toward JDM performance began to pay off quickly. That same year the Subaru WRX arrived in America — and the opportunity was unmistakable.

The timing connected a family business with a car culture that was about to explode, and Subimods’ path started to come into focus.

2004

Subaru path forward

When the STI released in 2004, Nazzaro made the call that Subaru was the path forward for the years to come.

So much of our history to date goes back to this one decision — a commitment to the Subaru enthusiast community that still drives the company every day.

2013+

Brand momentum

The new Subimods headquarters let Nick and a rapidly growing team of passionate people work at a different rhythm — grinding out victories one at a time while building technology, vendor relationships, and industry presence.

Between 2013 and today, Subimods grew beyond another ecommerce parts shop into a brand with a personality, a voice, and a face the Subaru community can recognize and trust.

2021

Expansion

The team worked through the Covid-19 pandemic and a difficult economic stretch without losing focus — serving the community the way we would want to be served.

Those efforts prompted expansion in 2021: a second warehousing facility and more staffing resources to keep pace with demand and the next chapter of growth.

Subimods growth and expansion

2022

Global stage

In 2022 Subimods brought its first-year Subaru VB WRX modification to SEMA and appeared at the Tokyo Auto Salon, proudly featured in the Varis booth.

The momentum continued in 2023 with a second SEMA appearance and the second-year VB WRX build — proof that the timeline keeps filling with new milestones, while the team stays locked on turning challenges into victories.

Now

Pressure is privilege

“We are taking people’s hard-earned money and delivering a product to them. We look at this as a privilege that we cannot take for granted.” That mindset — pressure is privilege — fuels how Subimods trains its team, serves customers, and refuses to copy someone else’s path.

We cut our own way through the corn maze. Our rewards come from the happiness and success of Subaru drivers, so we will never stop moving forward.
