This Kartboy Short Shifter replaces the stock shift lever in 2004+ Subaru STI. Overall shift throw is decreased by 40%, providing a noticeable difference and a solid feel. The Shift knob height will also drop 1" as well. Constructed of CNC'd and TIG welded 4130 Cr-Mo steel. It will install with simple mechanic's tools in under 30 minutes. 

 

The Kartboy Shifter Bushings replace the stock shifter mount bushings in the 6-Speed 2004+ Subaru WRX STI. While this product will not change the geometry of the shifting mechanism, it eliminates excessive play in the system for a more solid gear change. This simple modification will make your shifter linkage feel 10x more solid . This product requires jacking of the car and jackstands are mandatory. Can be installed in 30 min and are accessible from underneath the car. The Polyurethane material is Grey for the STI. 

 

The Kartboy Rear shifter bushing replaces the soft factory rubber bushing. It works in conjunction with the Kartboy shifter bushings to help stabilize the shifter assembly mounting base. The rear bushing located underneath the car in the transmission tunnel, above the driveline. This will fit on the 5-Speed and 6-Speed Subarus.

Great Short Shifter

I’ve had this shifter combo for every Subaru I’ve owned and it never disappoints. Night and day different from the stock shifter and bushings. It feels a lot more precise and gives much more confidence with every shift. Would recommend to anyone!

Great and well needed upgraded

Moderate level of install. Not difficult, but take your time. The shifter is tighter and really satisfying with every shift. It almost falls into the next gear. Overall a great upgrade that improved the driving experience

So smooth!!!!

Makes that 6spd feels so smooth. The whine from the bushing is definitely awesome to hear. Install is not as bad as in the WRX.

Worth It To Me! Noticeable Difference Shifting

I was surprised with how loud the transmission whine is at first. I've had this for 4 months and put about 5k miles on it. Autocross event using launch control & flat foot shifting. No complaints at all once I got used to the whine. Think of it as positive feedback. Now it only gets my attention under certain conditions with RPMs & gear. Shifts are solid and it feels quite notchy. No guessing which gear you're trying to select. No slop or play from the shifter. Well worth it to me!
